Sharing Knowledge,
Igniting Innovation

Our annual gathering for in-person, undergraduate nanomaterials researchers. Join us for a time of scientific discovery, networking, and professional growth for both faculty and students.

Why We Gather

The Annual PUNC Symposium, part of Spring ACS, is more than just a series of talks. It is an important opportunity for our nanomaterials community to gather in-person, exchange ideas, and push the boundaries of our field.

During our Symposium, talks are reserved for faculty. Students are encouraged to present posters as part of the PUNC Symposium, which are held during the Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry poster session. This provides students the opportunity to share their active research projects with fellow researchers in the nanomaterials community, including those outside of PUNC.

Key Topics Include:
  • Nanoparticles Synthesis

  • Plasmonics & Photonics

  • Catalysis

  • Green Nano-Chemistry

  • Biomedical Nanotech

  • Materials Characterization

  • Computational Studies

  • Environmental Research

  • Sensors

  • Energy Apppcations

Collaboration & Community

Building lasting connections beyond the lab bench.

Scientific Impact

Conferences provide a unique environment where research groups coalesce. Seeing what other research groups are achieving can be professionally motivating, help inspire new scientific ideas and encourage collaborative problem-solving.

Meeting Researchers

In-person interactions are irreplaceable. The opportunity to sit down with fellow researchers and share research challenges, mentorship strategies, and tell stories helps make PUNC a true community.

Student Growth

When attending a conference, undergraduate students are watching their faculty model what it means to be a member of a larger scientific community. The PUNC symposium offers a place where both faculty and students can engaging with other nanomaterials scientists in a constructive and supportive environment.'s plenty of time to bond and celebrate our shared passion for science.
